Friday: Bathtime for Robin

Heard the geese again this morning, few dozen of them following the river down to the sea then round to where our little mountain becomes a headland.

As soon as I’d eaten breakfast I warmed up blackberry & apple juice from yesterday, reducing it by a third. Added jam sugar and boiled until it reached setting point - my method is to stir with a wooden spoon then let jam drip back into pan until it doesn’t drip any more …!


Boiling water over jars and lids, then messy job of filling jars - I have a small jug which is perfect for the job! Made 9 jars of jam, to share …

Weather still warm at lunchtime, I took my sandwich out to eat in the garden - the Robin promptly appeared then started having a very energetic bath in the posh bird bath. I took loads of photos, he was very funny!
