I gotta see you one last night

Well, that was a day.

I got into work; we all cheered when SJ came back.  Our cleaner has been off on holiday for 2 weeks. and boy have we missed her.  I made her a cake, and a poster, and we set off Party Poppers when she arrived, and then cleaned them up for her, so that she didn't have extra.

Then I went to the Post Office to Post a box for Si.

And when i left the Post Office I got stopped by the police.

-(

Monkton is a little village street, about 400 metres long.  Built for horses and carts, not Chelsea tractors parked on both sides of the street.  Added to which, they have now added concrete bollards, triangle in shape to either side of the road, every 50 metres.

Where cars are parked in between every bollard, there is only space for one car to drive up the main street.

I left my space and started out up the main street.  I looked ahead and there was an articulated lorry sitting at the opposite end 400 metres away.  There was nowhere to pull in.   I had to drive the full length of the street.

As I reached the truck parked at an angle against one of the bollards, I increased speed to get past him, and as I angled around him - dropped back  Total period of time I sped approximately 3 seconds.

As I cleared the back of him, and bascially pulled in behind  him - about 150 metres ahead I saw the police man standing in the road.

He waved me down, and announced that I had been counted at 36 miles per hour, but wouldn't be proceeding because in the same count I had dropped to 26.

I told him I had sped up to get round the vehicle to allow him to pass.  Not allowed.  I asked him what he thought about the concrete blocks.  Nah, he didn't like them either, but they weren't an excuse.  I swore and ranted for a little while and then was unable to make the car go.

He suggested I put it in to gear, and I pointed out that It was an automatic.  he said "try drive". It was.   I moved it from  Drive to Park, and back again and it started up quickly, and waved bye bye.

I had to visit the Temple of St Michael to recover, and whilst on my way back and thought I might just go the whole hog and hold my phone, whilst i was sitting at a Bollard at the other end of the village,

Can you see it?  right down at the bottom of the street.  A huge Carge Plane.  Imagine having that in your back garden every morning.

PS - Extra - new decorations at the "old Swimming Pool".
