10ft lily

For last Christmas Mr Rat gave me a present of a Roots membership with the National Trust for Scotland. Each month I've had something from them, usually wild flower seeds and gardening information, but they also organised a visit to Branklyn Gardens in Perth which is 100 yrs old this year.
It was supposed to happen a couple of months ago but the staff all came down with Covid so it was re-arranged for today. It was raining when we arrived but stopped before we had our guided tour from the head gardener who lives in the garden (in a house, built by the original owners). Although we've visited lots of times we still learnt plenty of new things about the place and some extra special plants were pointed out, including this huge lily. It was a bit of a challenge to photograph and flash was needed and, although the central flower wasn't quite in focus I rather like this crop.
Tour done we had complimentary refreshments, tea and scones.
We could have wandered round some more but instead went for a walk along the river and South Inch.
This afternoon I did some gardening and cleared a bit of flowerbed that was getting rather overrun and then planted a couple of things I bought at the gardens.
