Sally Mair - Loving life

Nuclear Power

I left my B&B in Eyemouth mid morning and drove the quieter Coastal road north to join the A1. This view from the top of the hill looking North to Edinburgh caught my eye to the extent that I pulled in to take my blip. I loved the colour and the pastoral scene with the Forth to the top and right. The clouds are pretty spectacular too. Mind you I can't believe I'm blipping my bête noir rosebay willowherb.
The blur in the thumbnail is Torness Nuclear Power Station, on the blip its on the spit of land to the right and its coloured a bluey grey to blend in with our Scottish skies, it was almost invisible today. Torness is now run by EDF. Apparently it produces enough power daily to supply around 2. 5 million homes. It was the source of much agitation and protest in the 80s before it was built. It is due to end production in 2028. That must have seemed a life time away when it was built. If you are on a large screen then beyond Torness and slightly to the right you can see the white mass which is the Bass Rock.
