Gullane Bents
We had lunch in a favourite venue which had been closed for some time, even after the pandemic, the Old Bakehouse at Aberlady. We then continued to Gullane Bents for a stroll on the beach.
Several others were enjoying the sands and the water - a few hardy swimmers enjoyed the shallows, for over an hour we watched a foilboarder*, then another, sail back and forth seemingly above the water, a surfboarder joined them some time later (see extra).
We peered in rockpools, gazing through clear water at the tiny fish (main photo - I count eight, maybe nine ) and periwinkles but no sea anemones.
Back at the carpark we indulged in an ice cream, sitting with an overview of the bay, watching the activities below, concluding a very pleasant afternoon and managed to arrive home before the short deluge which generated a rather fine rainbow.
*A foilboard is specialised surfboard that has many design features to maximise its performance when used in conjuction with a hydrofoil. Like surfboards foilboards come in a variety of dimensions, shapes, volumes and constructions.
