Saughton Gardens
We visited Saughton Gardens after my hair appointment, enjoyed a coffee at the Garden Bistro before wandering around.
The grass borders are beautiful just now, with sympathetic planting of complementary perennials (main photo). The herbaceous borders are also planted with a wide range of colour themes, the rose garden still has fine examples of a wide range of varieties, the physic garden has a lovely display of medicinal plants.
Bees were out in force, enjoying many different species; I was taken with a queen buff-tailed bumblebee (extra 1) which does not appear unusually large except that it is on a cardoon, a giant thistle-like flower. It was joined later by a male buff-tail (in the collage, along with examples from around the garden, including an unidentified bee on a small thistle).
At home I found that the replacement battery for my phone had arrived and is now charging, so tomorrow I should be back in communication.
