First trip to the theatre

Not the best exposure as I had an ice-cream in my hand so didn’t manage to correct the light but I took our Channel 4 production trainee, Suhur to what should have been her first trip to the theatre (she snuck in a trip to a tiny fringe theatre last week) and it blew her away. We saw Much Ado which was a beautiful production although not much chemistry between B & B and didn’t quite erase the superb Simon Russell Beale version in the Olivier. It was a privilege to share her delight, right down to the Hackney Gelato ice-cream!  She’s a drama fiend but never felt theatre was for her which is a message.   Most theatres have schemes to welcome a more diverse audience but someone has to open the gate at the other end.

She’d seen Shakespeare on film but never on stage and I was so pleased this was her first experience.
