Over the sea to ...

Over the Lake to Varenna. Although it has been quite warm all week, today the weather decided to show that Spring can be mistaken for summer, temperature was roughly 25 around midday. Today was also a Public Holiday so no meetings today, that made a nice change.

After a lazy morning and a nice lunch in the Piazza in Menaggio we took the boat over to Varenna. I would say this is a more tourist type village than Menaggio, though maybe the word "even" is missing from that statement. Given it was a Holiday and the weather Menaggio had been invaded in the morning. We found Varenna had also been invaded, but there is less space in which the people can disperse.

Varenna is a very picturesque small village. It is perched on the hillside above the lake. It is quite similar to the nearly and possibly even more famous village of Bellagio in the centre of the Lake, Varenna, Bellagio and Menaggio form a "golden triangle" of towns and villages at the centre of Lake Como.

Having been out all day my face turned a pleasing shade of beetroot. I have not had time to build up resistance to the sun, and did not bring any sunscreen with me on this trip. I did partake of after sun cream, it will have its work cut out.
