Ort

No idea where the word ort came from, but that’s it - the jar full of all the ends of threads cut off when finished sewing and, instead of being thrown away, are put in the jar.

Today we were to use our ort on our flag. The trouble was that Anne also used some dyed fleece bits and that got me sorting out my stuff and finding some rather nice fleece and silk tops etc. which were left over from when I used to dye fleece for felting. I started couching some of it with tiny stitches to the backing. Then I was supposed to add a tangled heap of the ort threads and make it really messy.

Now, bearing in mind that I don’t do messy and neither do I like lots of colours all mixed together, I wonder if I did as had been suggested . . .
