Blackcurrant ice-cream day

When the blackcurrants turn up in the local farm shop I pounce and make this blackcurrant ice-cream. It is made, unusually with raw blackcurrants and is delicious. I remember it from childhood and set out, a few years ago to find the recipe and sourced it off the internet and then found a copy of the book on eBay.  It’s from the Times Cook’s Calendar 1973. I try very hard to find other recipes to do but it’s quite old fashioned otherwise…baked raspberry pudding? Who’d bake a raspberry?

Today was a rather nice breezy summer’s day but obviously very warm. I gardened in a desultory way after D and baby left for London but got a lot of weeding done, and watered all the pots and one or two key plants that I don’t want to lose. 

Hotmaggedon? Heatmaggedon? Two days of scorchio incoming!
