A day full of love
We had a wonderful day, the sun shone for us and it really was a day full of love and laughter. The love of Ali and Stuart, their love for their daughter and quite tangibly the love of their friends and family who had gathered to help celebrate. Two years and one week after the original planned date, and 426 days since their 5 person lockdown wedding, they were finally able to cut their cake, to have their wedding dance and to celebrate the day with family and friends.
Today though was also the day of Josie's Baptism, and she loved it. I thought she was going to leap into the font at one point. Eilidh and Isobel poured the water for baptism into the font so they were happy to be involved too.
When we arrived at the reception venue, Ali changed into her wedding dress, she'd opted for floral crowns rather than bouquets for herself and her bridesmaids and they were simply beautiful. Josie changed too, out of her silk christening gown.
Josie laughed her way through the whole day, eventually leaving at 5.30 pm in a taxi to our house, with a baby sitter. C has lots of experience and is a very capable and friendly nursery nurse from Eilidh and Isobel's nursery. A big ask of anybody, to take a 9 month old baby away from her parents, to give her her dinner and then put her to bed in somebody else's house (we did practise last week ). All went well though and Josie stayed over in our house, a sleep over with grandma - she slept, grandma didn't!
The collage shows the three of them, the cake cutting, Eilidh and Isobel - who could not believe the dessert which was part of their children's meal!, the three generations of me and my girls (clearly I couldn't find a comb!), and a lovely picture of Ali, Josie and I.
The extras are of Katy and I and my fabulous pannacotta dessert. I can't praise the caterers highly enough. They are based in Stirling and their staff went way above and beyond any expectations.
I'm delighted to say that my task, which was arranging and coordinating the transport arrangements of taxis from the church to the reception worked! It seemed to take ages, but I was in the last group to leave and arrived at the reception just 35 mins after the first taxi arrived at the church to pick up. Just under 100 people transported in half an hour, through Leith and its tram work chaos, on a Saturday afternoon in July. I was quite pleased with that.
Thanks for all the good wishes, we had a lovely day. Probably more tomorrow.
