Gotcha
It seemed damp this morning when I got up, but the air was very 'heavy' and oppressive with a fairly solid cloud cover.
It came as no surprise when SWMBO took herself back to bed after breakfast (I don't imagine it tasted as good 2nd time around).
I spent the morning finishing clearing the weeds from the patio, cutting back plant growth encroaching on the rotary dryer's space and getting rid of a load of suckers from the Lilac roots - not an easy task considering how rock hard the ground is (obviously any rain we have had recently has not got into the soil).
My endeavours didn't go unnoticed by the Robin who wasn't in the slightest bit worried by me ..... until I went and got the camera - then he became awfully shy.
The rusty old hammock frame was eventually taken apart (with the aid of the angle grinder) and will be heading to the dump when I have more stuff to go there and make the journey worthwhile.
After lunch I remembered that it was 'Old Codger's Discount Day' at one of the shops down the road so I headed off to get my weekly fix of huge, very tasty, Empire Biscuits (made by the company that Bags works for and she was the 'Project Development' manager on) and to restock the freezer with our favourite ice-creams on a stick).
It was then back to the garden ..... weeding, watering, topping up the severely depleted pond and such things.
That was until the sun eventually broke through and I started to lose all liquid from within my body through my pores ....... and my back's screaming and complaining got the better of me.
I did manage to get some pictures during the course of the day .... like the Feverfew before it headed to the garden waste bin, the thistle (which seemed to have the bees lining up to take their fill ...... one at a time) and the small white flowers with the tiny minute insects (Possibly Thrips???).
The large daisies were positively heaving with pollen beetles and other bugs.
Before I put the camera away I just had to get a shot of the blue cone on the Korean Fir that I grew from seed. It may be the last year I can get a shot because they all seem to be too high to get a shot of these days. I love the way the seeds poke out like tiny birds in flight returning home. I noticed on that shot that the weeping sap is remarkably clear, unlike the amber coloured stuff in pine trees.
I managed to get the music on my phone playing through my bluetooth headphones today ..... one track at a time!!! I just could not get the damned thing to play an entire album.
It was driving me nuts having to open the phone, select the next track, start it playing...... and repeat every time!
I gave up.
