Very Rainy Day
We have often had rain in the forecast in the last few weeks. Hardly a drop fell. The clouds finally opened last night and we’ve had several inches of rain. It isn’t supposed to stop completely until Sunday morning. Our area really needs rain so I welcomed it. That is until we got the call that Jamie’s basement was flooding. Hubby used the shop vac to get up the worst of it. We soaked the rest up using over a dozen beach towels, put down more, turned on fans and two dehumidifiers. Jamie unknowingly built his house on an underground stream. What problems he’s had over the years when we get a lot of precip. Jamie’s family has landed safely. They should be home to watch the basement in a few hours. Otherwise we’ve completed house chores and worked on trip prep today. Sure hope we’ve thought of everything. I am actually cleaning up my phone, too many photos and text conversations. Tedious work. Sky says her ankle is swollen and bruised. She sprained it again yesterday trying to catch Charlie. She’s back in a boot. Hope they’ll make her wear it until that ankle is completely healed. This has been one of our quietest days. The rain makes one lazy and sleepy. Hope you are having a quiet but fun weekend. We were so relaxed that we forgot to go to 5:00 Mass. Tomorrow will be a better day to be out though. We’ve received word that some roads are closed due to flooding. No other news. Thanks for the visit. So glad you liked the yellow hibiscus. “Rain is like life, it can be both refreshing and overwhelming, but we always appreciate it when it’s gone.” - Anonymous
