Out For A Walk
First of all, thank you all for the stars and hearts for Fridays entry and my 365th.
Our second week in the Lakes started with a recce of a walk we are leading for our Ramblers Group in the coming week. We have named it the 6 Hills walk (After the 6 hills we climb) but the co-ordinator called it the Coledale Round. (For those familiar with the Coledale Horseshoe we are omiting Grisedale Pike! ) It stayed dry but got very cold and windy on the high fells and there was certainly no sign of the heatwave others further south were experiencing. The image shows the view from close to the summit of Sail looking back to Causey Pike.
There was also a charity find raise in progress for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Entrants were invited to run/walk 5 hills in 5 hours or 10 in 10 on pre-defined courses. Checkpoints were set on summits and many staffing these points were sheltering in tents so cold and windy was it!
Keswick is full of Tri-Athletes at the moment, Sunday is the Lakesman Ironman Triathlon and they have an early start, first competitors plunge into Derwentwater at 6am! Rather them than me!
