Conference

Once again I woke early, so took the chance to enjoy the beautiful morning by walking across the bridge to see the fine buildings across the river from our boat hostel (also see extra). Then we went across to the conference, where there were several good talks and valuable conversations. Afterwards, one of our friends from Berlin suggested going kayaking so we joined him. The evening was warm, but a little dull, as we paddled a few kilometres between two islands, from the city centre to an area of open water and back. It was interesting that they let us kayak on wide stretches of water with large and small boats making a wash, without asking if we could swim or offering us life vests! The banks were mainly parkland, or the end of gardens of grand old houses, and it was very pleasant. Afterwards we had dinner in the garden of a modest restaurant.
