Rye Harbour Nature Reserve
Saw all three sorts of terns today (left, right and U) no, no… common, sandwich and little tern down on the nature reserve. A special treat to see little terns as they are quite rare. Saw common gulls and oystercatchers with chicks too. And far more birds than we were expecting at this time of the year.
Very strong winds on the coast. Hard work walking out, a breeze walking back. Walked out to the very end of the breakwater, probably the only ever time that will happen. Plenty of sunshine though - come back with windburn!
We’ve passed this building many times and taken photos. Not used it for blip. Todays it’s day. No idea what it was or why it’s there. Well looked after. It’s called the Red Roofed Hut on maps. The notice board outside is about a poem! Everyone who passes it takes a photo.
Of course Mr Google knows, so now do I! https://www.ryeharbour.net/picture/number178.asp
The Reserve’s cafe was busy. Enjoyed lunch and coffee. The scone was spoilt. It had been microwaved. Why do they do this? It looked a perfect, craggy scone until you bit into it. Soft and pappy, pasting all surfaces of the mouth.
