Bridge 42 on the Llangollen canal
The second lift bridge today. At the first bridge four boats arrived at once, three in the same direction. The upshot was that we were third through and left the bridge up for the final boat to lower.
At the next lift bridge Susan opened the bridge and we waved the boat behind through to return their favour at the first bridge.
We moved from last night’s mooring about a mile east where we stopped to visit Whixall Moss and to go back to the cafe at Whixall Marina. Both of which were achieved. Whixall Moss is an amazing habitat a very rare lowland raised peat bog, over 97% of which has been lost in the world yet has holds an important part to play in ameliorating climate change and carbon capture.
From there we made our way nearer to Whitchurch with a very pleasant mooring with only one or two other boats nearby which, apart from the heavy rain hammering on the cabin roof and thunder rolling around, is a very quiet location.
