View the View

Another glorious day weather wise and we made full use of it touring Perthshire to see some stunning views.  First was the Queen’s View (top) which became famous in 1866 when Queen Victoria visited.  It is supposedly named for a much earlier queen, the first wife of Robert the Bruce.  I added a photo of the sign as explanation.  The view of Loch Tummel from here is amazing. Then it was on to the famous site which all Outlander fans will be familiar, Craigh na Dun, where Claire went through the stones.  The final view is from the dun looking to Dunalastair Waters and in the distance, Loch Rannoch.  We had lunch at the cafe overlooking the Pitlochry Dam and salmon ladder, extra, and finally Henry, Lord Mousefield, 1st Earl of Cheeseboro, at the visitor’s center at The Queens View exercising his newly acquired royal status.  What will he do when we return to Maine later this week?  I also added a photo David took of me about to dive into my scone with jam and clotted cream at Scone Palace the other day.
