León to Villa de Mazarife day 22
I left the extended urban conurbation of León in the company of a young Korean girl who is planning to work in Scotland for a couple of years. The conversation passed the time across what would otherwise have been a fairly uninteresting long exit out of León. We parted company at Opción so I could concentrate on finding the longer scenic route that would eventually take me to Villar de Mazariff.
The terrain for the last 12km is exemplified by the blip, punctuated by swathes of poppies and the occasional large hawk/vulture above me. I met only a few other travellers.
Villar de Mazariff is a delightful pilgrim friendly village. My Albergue for the night is quite luxurious, as these things go, a great set up for laundry including pegs and best of all there is a storks nest outside my window. I don’t even need to get out of bed to see them.
