Meet Charlie
We had another adventurous day. Our flag was already at half staff for the victims in Texas but we paused to pray and remember those brave military men and women who gave their lives for us. After breakfast, we delivered ice plants to each of our MD children. My sister shared them from her garden. I got to meet Charlie, Kristen’s new Great Dane puppy. Love those baby blue eyes. Diesel, their senior Dane, is totally nonchalant about the new addition. He isn’t fond of Charlie’s baby teeth so he keeps his distance most of the time. And he still considers himself a lap and bed buddy so Kristen has Charlie on her chest and Diesel besides her at night. Not a lot of sleeping for her and Chris these days. Glad they have a king sized bed. We headed to my mother’s to bake a few of our crab cakes for Father Bill. Momma used her last ones from 2021 a few weeks ago. While they were baking, we received a call that lunch was ready at my cousin’s. BUT, Bill was sniffling, so for the heck of it, they tested him and he is COVID positive. We decided to grab carryouts and enjoy lunch at my mother’s. A few of the younger relatives sat outside under open tents and picnicked with Fr. Bill who was more than socially distanced. Not how we expected our Bayne family reunion to go. We came home, took a nap and now it’s Kindle time. Hope you had a memorable day. I am embarrassed to say I am not sure if other countries celebrate Memorial Day at the same time or not. I also prayed for those dying in Ukraine even now defending freedom. War is such a terrible human invention. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “Inside every Newfoundland, Boxer, Elkhound and Great Dane is a puppy longing to climb on to your lap.” - Helen Thomson
