William and his new book

Great to see William again today to take him out for an 'active adventure' in Queens Park Loughborough.

While in Iceland, I had bought a children's book with William in mind. It's called, in English, The Westfjord Wonder Cow.  And it's based on a true story. A cow that had been sent to the knacker's yard escaped and jumped in the fjord. Bearing in mind that the fjord was filled with cold Atlantic water, she swam three miles to the other side where she was rescued and managed to live out her days in peace. She was pregnant at the time. It's thought that gave her extra impetus to survive.

The book was written by the very nice bookseller at Flateyri Bookstore, the most northerly bookshop in Iceland. His name is Eyþór Jóvinsson and apparently he is also a film maker.  I was delighted to discover this evening that he had signed the book. It has been translated into English, French and German. The story is told in all these languages as well as Icelandic. I look forward to reading it with William.

The active adventure didn't fully materialise. We were supposed to follow a trail guided by clues given with the help of What Three Words. But vandals had removed two of the posters and we couldn't find the seventh. We found four posters and clues altogether. I have complained.

Nonetheless, William enjoyed playing in the play park and we all enjoyed refreshments at The Baobab Café and Caffè Nero.
