The Reward

Hubby made himself a hearty breakfast (nothing that I would choose); I enjoyed cherry cheese Danish, banana and coffee. We headed outside before the extreme weather arrived. I trimmed the ornamental grasses in the garden by our well head so he could get the last fountain in place and running. While hubby trimmed around everything, I pruned more shrubs. The knockout roses are in full bloom as are my chives and this variegated azalea. Thankfully, my son and his family gave us a gift certificate at Christmas to have all our boxwoods pruned and other landscaping tasks. That makes the remaining yard work doable. We are getting close…. Once it got to 89° F, we quit. My shower rejuvenated this old body a bit. Hubby decided we’d earned a treat for all our labor this week; he treated me to a delicious Bruster’s waffle cone full of strawberry ice cream with dark and white chocolate for our lunch. It almost cooled us off. He went to the base to pick up meds and I did two loads of laundry. Our jobs are finished for another day. I hope you can find time for silliness this weekend. Mancil has had a mild case of COVID and hubby has had no symptoms so far. He wore a mask and kept his distance at the pharmacy. Kristen says four students in Mack’s class have it. She started feeling sick last night at her concert. Chase did as well. Kristen kept them both home for observation. She has worked from home all week due to ear/sinus infections and strep throat. She sounds terrible. Thanks for dropping by. We heard a rumor that Putin has cancer. If it is true, maybe that’s what has sent him off the deep end. At what horrible costs. “Everyone knows that ice cream is worth the trouble of being cold. Like all things virtuous, you have to suffer to gain the reward.” - Brandon Sanderson
