A trip down to Harewood House today to view the “Radical Acts: why craft matters” exhibition.
Wow! Incredible.
“To craft something means to understand a material; how to use it for a particular purpose. It means learning, practising and passing on knowledge of the mind, hand and heart. It can teach us crucial lessons for contemporary life; resourcefulness, respect, resilience, repair, regeneration.”

There were so many good views, some photographical, from repairing garments, clothing collectives, corn husk entrepreneurs, agriculture …. And so much more. Pictured is a simple ceramic pot, a bit like a B&Q bucket, but this pot changes lives. A company works alongside communities digging clay and building kilns to make ceramic water filters (99.8% efficient). Local companies are set up to produce the filters. They teach water hygiene, soap making and sewing classes. Clean water transforms lives and rebuilds communities.
