Willy
I went to Temuka Domain this morning to have a wander about, so went to see the birdies. This one is called Willy, and, according to the sign (this time I saw a sign & actually read it!), he is a Cacatua Sanguinea, commonly known as Little Corella.
Here he is, sporting a rather impressive 'quiff'
Looks a bit like James Dean, I reckon...
He said 'hello' a lot, so I said 'hello' back. When I took a photo, and the camera went 'click', he would go "oh".
Ha! We had quite a conversation going. I think he would have liked to get out of that cage too, just quietly.
I noticed another sign, indicating a security camera operating in that area. That is probably as a result of the horrific event that took place there in 2009, when two drunken shits - and I'm sorry for the language, but that is what they are - kicked their way into the aviary and killed 32 birdies. It was done in an horrific way, and I'm going to save you all the trauma of enlightening you with all the gory details, suffice to say, it was bad enough, that the lowlifes were sent to jail.
It's a dull, dreary day here. Still waiting for rain...
