Carpa! by Gifford's Circus
Today was Easter Sunday. Even though we are grown up, we still hide Easter eggs for each other in the garden, because I am essentially six years old....so, that was fun except that I hadn't realised that CS had hidden mine, and was dilly dallying, the sun was hot, one egg was in a plastic box (tut tut) which produced a sort of greenhouse effect, leading to an egg with frilly edges...I thought it was a new style, but no, it had melted!
After that we drove up the hill to Fennell's farm, the home of Gifford's circus. I hadn't been for years, but we'd managed to get tickets for a fiver, because it was Easter Sunday. The whole outfit has changed: bigger Big Top with comfy seats, more stalls, and a slicker show with a storyline. The theme was Mexican this year, and involved Santa Maria de Guadalupe (the virgin of Guadalupe) and two virginal daughters who wanted to marry some Pieces of Rough, but were being prevented by their overprotective mother...oh, and there were horses, and aerial acrobats, and Tweedie the clown, and it was totally amazing and wonderful. I haven't laughed so much in ages.
Most of my pictures were rubbish because it was dark, so I will just stick withvtgr Sacred Heart, which is about to be pierced by a knife-thrower (I myself attended a series of Sacred Heart Convents for ten years. The less said about that, the better).
In the afternoon, GG came round, we had tea in the garden, then she drove us to the Holiday Inn near the NEC at Birmingham. The phone directions were totally rubbish at the end, and we drove around the same roundabout at least thirty times, in a barren wilderness. The hotel was bright and cheerful, though, and there was even a pub next door, where we had dinner. We are well placed for our dawn trip to the airport tomorrow.
