WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Sun and Birds

When I saw the sun lighting up the curtains on the landing I remembered that I hadn’t blipped the newly decorated hallway and landing.
Frank thinks you shouldn’t have patterned curtains with patterned wallpaper. I don’t care and I’m the boss! I made the curtains when we moved in 4 years ago and I love the playful fabric with the birds on. I tried to find wallpaper that would mirror the leaves and branches.
He’s got used to it now and likes it.

Sparrows and Pigeons

The sun was shining through the curtains
early morning when I rose from my bed
the glowing pattern made me smile
and look forward to the day ahead

I boiled the kettle for morning coffee
and took one steaming mug upstairs
then back down I grabbed my own
and went out in the cool morning air.

I didn’t expect such an icy shock
there was a slight frost on the ground
I pulled my robe tight around me
and listened to the morning sounds.

Two sparrows sat in the bush
and four pigeons high on a cable
they were all giving me the eye
then nodding to their empty table.

I filled it up with seeds and fruit
and then I went back in the kitchen
to watch them in the comfort and warm
those two sparrows and the four pigeons.

The ukulele lady - Janet - came again this morning. I had lent her my uke to practice on till she bought her own. Had she practiced? No! Had she bought one? No! Did I lend her mine again? No! I said I needed it this weekend. Anyway, one more lesson and she’s on her own. I had told her it would only be an hour today but my can she talk! I ended up almost having to usher her out!
Frank will never do this again!

The rest of the day was divided between sitting/ pottering in the garden - still with thermals on - and clearing out my wardrobe. Two big bags for the charity shop and all my winter clothes ready to lock away till hopefully November!

Frank has his Jam session at the Black Horse tonight but I didn’t feel like going and Amy and little Evelyn weren’t going to be there so I’m going to watch the Sewing Bee instead.

I hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday Weekend.
Goodnight and thank you so much fro all your lovely comments, stars and hearts. ;-) X
