Thor's Cave
It actually felt warm 1st thing this morning but we were lulled into a false sense that spring was starting and failed to put on that extra layer. Today's outing was to cycle the Mainfold Trail another disused railway line from Hulme End near Hartington. The narrow gauge line closed in 1934. It's quite a pleasant ride but deceptively uphill on a steady gradient. The failure to put on that extra layer was quite telling especially on the fingers. We stopped off to look a Thor's Cave a huge natural hole high up on the valley side. It is much loved by climbers although I think I'd prefer the sun on my back rather than a damp cave. The walk upto the cave got the blood coursing thru the body and warmth back into the fingers. Steaming mugs of tea and victoria sandwich cake at Wetton Mill helped make the return journey along the trail worthwhile.
Local sausage and herb and tomato pasta for tea.
