Daffs and Dandelions
I spent nearly all day in the garden, weeding and pottering, it was heavenly!
Then I saw our neighbour’s Mum coming with a spray bottle and she proceeded to spray all her daughter’s Dandelions :-( . I told her I just leave them but she wasn’t interested. She’s a nice lady, same age as me but totally lacking in knowledge about the environment - as is her daughter and hubby.
I felt compelled to write the poem.

Dandelion
Bright, golden yellow
I tip my head to the sun,
bees are pleased to see me
but why do humans shun
such a pretty wildflower
that some call ‘just a weed’?
Bees and others depend on me
for their first springtime feed.
They in turn will pollinate
your fruit bushes and trees,
give you plums, pears and apples
and all kinds of summer berries.
When I’ve finished flowering
and my seeds set on the clock,
who doesn’t like to blow them,
watch the wind carry them off?
This in turn is food for the birds
and the leaves are edible for you,
so put your poison spray away
let me thrive and flower too.
The extra is me wearing Amelia’s sleep mask. She was looking for it before they left yesterday and I assured her that I had definitely put it in her bag.
She didn’t find it when she got home so I went for another look and found it under the bed! I had got mixed up with the the day we went to the boat as I had put it in her bag that day! Silly Grandma! Anyway I sent her this photo this morning and she laughed and was happy. She wears it every night to bed.
Sad news today from fellow Blipper Hanulli in Germany, she and her family had to say goodbye to their wonderful dog Omo. It made me cry when I saw her Blip. RIP Omo.x
Well, we are going to watch Ep 1 of Gentleman Jack now.
Thanks for all your lovely comments, stars and hearts.
Goodnight :-) x
