Between fen and mountains

Waiting to ring

The clock on the other church shows nearly five o'clock but the tower captain has still not arrived. I had not taken my keys as usually he is practising the organ. Fortunately he arrived a few minutes later. Our practice was not quite as good as usual. He was trying to force the pace a little to bring on the more recent members of the band so that they would react more quickly to calls.

I bought my fish in the market in the morning and then went on for coffee with friends, to collect some plants to look after and to agree to leading the walks for the next three weeks while they are away. It is still very cold and I thought playing tennis when the temperature is barely above freezing would be unpleasant but in fact I soon warmed up.
