Port Lympne
During 2019 I booked to take my parents to this animal reserve for March 2020. Who would have thought when I booked it that we would enter into a pandemic. I then rebooked for the following March but once again we went into a lockdown so third time lucky we made it to our destination.
There are lots of different accommodations to stay in but thinking of mum and dad I chose the hotel (they call it the mansion). All the rooms are named after people who were guests at the house including Churchill and Charlie Chaplin. We were in the Philip Sassoon suite, who the house was built for and just happened to be the bridal suite…. Hilarious;-D and mum and dad were in the Charlie Chaplin suite.
When we arrived we booked in but couldn’t get to our rooms until 3pm. We went for a wander around and enjoyed watching the young gorillas having a play and tumble. I had booked a safari for 2.30 and enjoyed a ride around this vast reserve. I have to say all the enclosures are huge and the photos really do not do them justice. Their aim is really about conservation and if it’s possible, they will try and release some of the animals back into the wild.
After our safari we were taken to our rooms. Mum and dad had got cold on our tour (a running theme throughout the week) so we chilled for a couple of hours before meeting up for dinner.
Lots of extra collages including the hotel, a morrocan style courtyard within the hotel, our room ~ the bridal suite, some animals and our evening ~ the night ones show a lovely array of stars … not bad as only taken on my phone.
Back blip no.2.
