Remembering
After an early visit to the shops I went to a coffee morning to support Ukraine in their fight against the atrocities being committed by the Russian authorities.
It was held in a nearby church - Priestfield - the exterior of which I posted most recently on 17 February this year.
It is a Grade A listed building in part due to the stunning stained glass work from the early 1920s. Three artists designed the. windows, this one being one of the most colourful. They were gifted to the church by a parent who lost a son right at the end of WW1 but wanted them to be in memory of all those who died.
The event was very well attended including by some dogs. Friends had brought their own dog Jura who was sporting Ukrainian colours. See extra. A reminder that 100 years on from these windows being commissioned new memorials will be in development in many minds.
In the evening our daughter and wife arrived for a brief overnight stay for Mother’s Day tomorrow.. A lovely end to the day.
