Making An Exhibition Of Itself
Sadly today was the last morning of our short break before we had to head back home.
We decided to go for another pre-breakfast walk and were again out the hotel door before 7.30 am. We strolled in the opposite direction to yesterday - this time towards Hove, although we never actually got that far.
I hadn't seen any photographic opportunities this time until I came across this rather dishevelled alcove near a stairwell on Marine Parade. I couldn't really tell if this was actually the artwork itself or advertising an exhibition elsewhere!
As we walked past the British Airways i360, the 162 metre observation tower, I then spotted a dustman pushing hIs cart (see extra) and loved the bent out of shape reflections in the windows of a bar on West Beach.
One of the reflections is of the Upside Down House - which is apparently the UK's only topsy-turvy attraction and is described as "a hybrid of street art and experimental entertainment". Unfortunately, we were too early to go in as it didn't open until 10 am but we have been inside before and I can confirm it's completely discombobulating.
Walk and photographic sojourn completed we returned to the hotel and indulged in the same hearty breakfast as yesterday. I enjoyed just as much this time!
It was then time to say goodbye to Brighton but I'm already looking forward to our next visit. The journey home was smooth and trouble free.
We still had time to stop off at Lewes to buy some new crockery from the Baltica store to replace our previously broken plates and bowls (see previous blip 28th January) - we even treated ourselves to a new milk jug (we know how to live on the edge!)
What a great trip!
