Caged Coastal Flight

Today was Day Two of our "Jolly Boys' Outing" (mine and my brother's short break to Brighton) - apologies to Only Fools & Horses fans for purloining the title of the 1989 Christmas episode (and yes, I do know it was set in Margate and not Brighton!).
Unlike yesterday the weather was wonderful - blue skies and glorious sunshine - so we decided to head out for an early beachside walk before breakfast (around 7.30 am).
My main image is taken looking into a tiny fenced off and uninhabited enclosure right on the beach just off Marine Parade. It is the only such structure anywhere on the beach in Brighton and is surrounded on all four sides by rather decrepit wire fencing and within it holds a small wooden shed, fishing equipment and dozens of sculptures constructed of concrete encased in shells, flints and pebbles. It was really difficult to get an image but just as I crouched into position to fire off a shot a pigeon flew in to the enclosure with its feathers highlighted by the early morning sun. Complete serendipity!
The first two extras were taken on the continuation of our walk along the seafront before we returned to our hotel for breakfast. By the time we got back we were absolutely ravenous - so we managed to consume a bowl of fruit (or cornflakes in my brother's case), orange juice, coffee, a full English and two rounds of toast! Lovely!
We decided we were trying to go and fit in as much as we could today but, initially, after consuming all that food we needed to have a bit of a breather first. Breather completed we ventured out towards the Royal Pavilion and then on to Brighton Museum for an exhibition on the photographer Marilyn Stafford. I had not heard of her before but what beautifully evocative images!
By now it was time for a coffee and a pastry so we headed to a nearby 'artisan' coffee shop. I was asked what type of bean blend I wanted in my coffee but I am absolutely clueless about such things so I let the barista decide. We waited what seemed like an age for the coffee to arrive but after all that time, and what appeared to be quite a performance, it was disappointingly both lukewarm and devoid of any real flavour. The hunt for a good coffee shop in Brighton goes on!
Following our caffeine miscalculation we decided it was time for a pint so we strolled to The Pull & Pump pub (my third extra of a chihuahua mural on a boarded up shop front was taken on the way)  where met our first hostelry based hound of the day - a wonderfully characterful lurcher who loved a back scrub and a head stroke.
From there it was on to our usual visit to the Resident record shop for some new music - in this case an eclectic mix of JJ Cale (a track called "Call The Doctor" had been part of the soundtrack at The Pull & Pump), Johanna Samuels and Little Simz.
By now if course it was time for another pint so we returned to the Saint James bar for a pint, where we met our second hostelry hound - a delightful miniature poodle called Biscuit. An elderly Irishman at the bar, despite downing several whiskeys, managed to get Biscuit to both sit and offer up a paw on command!
We still had time to fit in a mid afternoon siesta with book reading and people watching sessions (we had a sea view with a window seat) back at the hotel before dinner and a bottle of wine at Pizza Express. My last extra was my attempt at a nighttime shot (of the tower of a local zip wire attraction) on the walk back to the hotel. What a packed day!
