Spooked

The mergansers have been out on the lake for a few days now, since the ice began to melt in fact. They are difficult to photograph because they are easily spooked and also they are constantly on the move.

Even in open water, I found it hard to pre-focus and the light was not great so narrow dof, slow shutter, etc. But using the cover of some reeds, I could get a little closer, albeit they were obstructed.
