Valladolid

We took a very quick train from Madrid to Valladolid.  It's a handsome city with some fine open spaces, interesting streets and lovely old buildings. Especially good were the Iglesia De San Pedro, with a facade covered with traditional religious carvings and, just around the corner, the Colegio de San Gregorio, whose carvings are rather more bizarre. My guidebook says the hairy men "represent nature and the value of hermitry."
