Cheering on the Firemen

We had friends over for each of the girls this afternoon, and they played happily all the time they were here. It was lovely, I got to read my latest book club book, State of Wonder by Ann Patchett.

The air raid siren, which signals that the volunteer firemen are being called up for an emergency, went off part way through the afternoon (a scrub fire). The Eldest and her friend were straight down the drive cheering them on. It was very sweet.

The Husband played football today, his team were beaten, I won't mention the score...it may have been 8-0 but I'm not telling anyone.
