Adventure in the rain forest

With emphasis on the word “rain”.

I went with the same company for an off road trip. It was wet and that really added to the atmosphere. Not far from Machico we headed up the old track,  created with pebbles and known as the King’s road. A skilled and fearless driver, like Jose, was definitely needed.  As ever, the views were terrific.

The Laurissilva forest is exciting at any time but today, the mud and misty colour was even more atmospheric.

It was a small group, just the four of us, and it was a really special day. We went right up to the Pico de Arreiro but it was raining as well as dense fog. 

My blip is just before we reached Ribeiro Frio and I’ve added an extra of our vehicle and of the fun of the high waves.
