Grimsay
Today's the day ........................ to expect
There's another storm on the way - called Gladys apparently - an altogether inappropriate name (in my opinion) for something as freezingly ferocious as this one is supposed to get.
This is how it was this afternoon on the River Dee in Kirkcudbright. Dull but calm, with the river full to the brim at high tide. The mooring ropes on the yacht Grimsay (now that would make a good storm name) look a bit puny - so I hope they are not put to the test in the coming 24 hours.
All the fishing fleet (see extra) were tied up in the harbour, double-parked and even triple-parked in places. They were no doubt glad to be somewhere safe and not out in the eye of the storm somewhere. It's just a case of sitting it out now - and hoping that things aren't too bad for anyone ........................
