Today's the day ....................... for an evening with Burns

With all the stark and worrying events that were happening today in another country of the world, to go to a concert this evening, seemed almost too frivolous a thing to be doing.  But it had been a long time in the planning and had actually been postponed once because of Covid restrictions - so we did indeed go nevertheless.

It was held in the magnificent Long Gallery of NTS Broughton House in Kirkcudbright - and the performers were Claire Hastings, Aaron Jones and rising star, Rose Byers - all from Dumfries and Galloway.  Claire and Aaron already have distinguished musical careers and one day, not too far away, Rose will be joining them.  It was a great night of exquisite singing and music and a real treat to be there to hear them.

I leave you with Claire's rendition of Auld Lang Syne.  This is her performance at Hogmanay 2021 - but it sounded every bit as good tonight, as she brought the evening's concert to a close .......................
