An Ode to the Silver Birch
Aaaah, Lady of the Woodland
The faerie Queen of trees,
How slender are your limbs
That sway in the breeze.
How white-grey your bark is
In the sunny daylight hours
How silver you shine by nightfall
Among the woodland flowers.
Your leaves flutter and turn up
When a cold front is on the way
You are - I think - more predictable
Than the BBC weather each day.
And when the catkins open
We know it’s nearly Spring
That very sight fills us with joy
Makes light our hearts within.

I had a telephone consultation with Dr Davis at lunch time about my headaches, which have been worse since I last spoke to him a month ago.
They’re not my usual migraines - strangely I find them easier to deal with after all these years. This is a constant low grade headache with pains when I move, bend or cough. The Dr was very thorough, looked in my eyes, ears, did my BP, temp and felt the pulses in my neck and temples. His first thought is chronic tension headaches which he said has nothing to do with me being tense or not. (I’m not - I don’t think!) He put me on a low dose of 10 mg of Amitryptilline to try.
He wants blood tests done and if the medication doesn’t make it better then a CT scan.
The first appt for a blood test is 9th March!
I spent the day reading and drawing a Starling.
Frank made a yummy vegan Mac ‘Cheese’ from the Bosh Book. It’s made with butternut squash and other veg and flavoured with nutritional yeast.
It was a long prep but well worth it.
I’ll be having an early night as my first dose of Amitryptilline is already making me sleepy.
I’ll look at Blips in the morning - Goodnight :-D X
