WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

A Day of Excitement!

The other day I did a Blip about my Grandmother's birth certificate which I had sent for from the record office. When I sent it to Sue and Tony they were thrilled because it told us what she had died of and also gave her address in Halton on Lune. Sue was saying how sad it was that we had no photos of Nellie and none of our Mum as a little girl; the earlist we have of her is aged 17.
Anyway, I went on a Halton Facebook group and asked if anyone knew where the address was and told them the reason for my query. Wee, today I had some wonderful messages including 2 school photos. One with my Mum aged 9 and one with her big brother and big sister. The lady who shared them lives in the old school house and has lots of local history papers including school registers. The info she was able to give me is amazing with dates of the children moving back to stay with relatives in North Shields after their Mum - Nellie -died and then reregistering at Halton school on their return and then leaving again to live at Ripley orphanage so my Granddad could carry on working. It must have been an awful time for them.
Now this lady on Facebook is in private contact with me and is going throughall her local history stuff and scanning documents to send to me and she also told me about a book on Halton History where the above photo came from.
I have ordered it on Ebay. My Mum Joyce Daines is on the 2nd row, 2nd from left.
This has taken up my whole day up to now and I can't settle to do anything else but I must do my Febcreate sketch now.

I'll be waiting for the postie everyday till all the info arrives!

Happy Day :-) X

Thanks for all the comments, stars and hearts!
