Symbister Bay

A mixed day, some lovely sunny spells, and then some showers, wintery at times.  It was fairly breezy, calmer tonight.  We seem to be missing the storms.  Sunset has finally hit 5pm again, the days are getting longer.

Up early, and Laura came over with Olly. We packed up and headed to Whalsay for the morning.  On our way back, we stopped off at the Planticrub Garden Centre.  Arriving at Laura's, I took the dogs out for another walk, followed by a cuppa.  I've been working in the shop this evening, and a steady evening of customers.  More walkies with Sammy, and now feet up by the fire.

Me and Laura have had a brilliant sibling day out.  Straight into a walk on arrival, and then took a tour around the isle.  Some of the walks I had planned looked a tad wet on foot, and not suitable for Laura's sore leg.  We'll just have to come back in the summer.  There's a lot of history allover the isle, including here at the harbour.   The small building in the centre left, is the Hanseatic Booth, said to have been built by German merchants.  Merchants from Breman and Hamburg came here in the 16th and 17th centuries.  It's now a museum, and I must visit next time and learn more about the area.  Of course, trying to snap and photo while walking the dogs, I got Olly photo bombing me.  Taken along the Symbister harbour, Whalsay.
