Mussels
Years ago the supermarket we use offered as sort of "meal deal" a main course, dessert and bottle of wine. Then suddenly they stopped, a pity as we enjoyed them and had them quite frequently. This week Clickychick spotted a modern equivalent, starter, main, dessert, and wine. Considerably increased in price but a good number of years have gone by and there are three courses.
The starter was Mussels in a white wine sauce. I felt the shells from the bivalves had to somehow make a blip. So here it is.
One interesting point is the white squiggle on the front shell is the protective tube of a marine worm, Pomatoceros, (Probably P lamarkii). They are filter feeders and will grow on any hard surface.
