Arriving in Dubai while watching BBC2’s startling Inside Dubai on iplayer.  I thought I’d get to know the place a bit before i got here.  If you dig below the shatteringly shallow opulence (if you can dig below a shallow) it’s a fascinating story.  In an incredibly short time they have build this playground of pleasure and money.   The day was spent in travel so I don’t have much to report, it was a comfortable 8 hour flight, the plane seemed fairly full but Heathrow was very empty. 

Mainly here for two days of meetings so doubt I’ll see much but as everyone wants to meet outdoors at least I can soak up some rays.
