White Rabbit

Yes, I know it’s brown but there is a white bath in the photo (of which more anon) and there aren’t any decent songs about brown rabbits. Jefferson Airplane’s 1967 single, on the other hand, is a classic track I recommend you listen to if you’re not already familiar with it.
Nice sunny day today, so it was up (relatively!) early and sausage baps swiftly consumed so we could go for a decent walk. As usual, we wandered along the river on the way out. Odd sight of the day was a dead mallard floating near the bank, however a subsequent FB post revealed that someone had witnessed an otter attacking a duck on the same stretch of river, earlier that morning. I guess that solves that mystery!
On the homeward leg we paused by a field which, due to it being enclosed by a high wall, is very sheltered and secure. Which, in turn, means you can usually see at least a dozen or so rabbits out feeding, seemingly without a care for all the people who stop to peer over the wall and watch them.
I think, in the past, there have been sheep in the field as well, which might explain the bath. Farmers are not renowned for spending money unnecessarily, so an old bath instead of a purpose built galvanised drinking trough is not an uncommon sight in these parts.
Except...the plastic corner protector and lack of taps, suggests this was a new bath, not something thrown out after a bathroom refurbishment. I suppose it might have been a cosmetically damaged ex- display model, that the owner of the field picked up cheaply from a builders merchants.
But the rabbit doesn’t care and I don’t know. The fact I’m even speculating about it, reveals the depths of boredom that this lockdown has induced. I need a new hobby...
