Diary of an Edinburgher

Guilty

Today I popped to the Central Library to renew my bus pass. I remembered that I’d done that many years ago, no bother. So we all walked through the Meadows, then Archie and JR went on for a big walk through the Gardens, while I popped in to the library.

Can I get a replacement bus pass here?’
‘Yes, but you’ll need an appointment. I’ll see if there’s one today…’
‘No, you’ll have to ring the Council if it’s a replacement.’

Drat! So I had a wee wander round the library, which is rather splendid. I was delighted to see one of the ‘Book Sculptures’ which use to appear round town several years ago. This was the biggest one I’d seen - normally they were small, delicate items of exquisite detail, all done using the pages of books (except for the wellies, I noticed). Check out the detail. (EXTRA)

And so I came home on the bus. Yes, I used JR’s bus pass. I hope I didn’t look too shifty as I carefully put the card down with the photo of a person with brown hair hidden, and distracted the bus driver with a cheery ‘Hello’.

JR and Archie were a long time in town. I didn’t notice, because I was reading snoozing. But they’d bumped into Hazel, who was in town returning an item from yesterday, and anyway, an item that JR had ordered yesterday was ready to collect. So Archie went shopping in some fairly posh shops with those two. They went for a drink in the Devil’s Advocate before walking home.

And now this evening we’re going to start watching Season 4 of Ozark. Brilliant.
