Pretty 'n purply!

I've had these primulas, or their antecedents since we lived in Potterton in the early 1980s. They were given to us by our next door neighbour, a lovely retired Highland gentleman by the name of Walter Campbell. Walter was a keen gardener who took great delight in spending time outside every day regardless of the weather, but for no longer than an hour at a time, when a cuppa and his pipe took precedent. We were raw recruits to gardening at that time and learned so much from him, including the short burst approach. You get a lot done without the aches and pains of solid hours of toil. Wise man!

We've moved house five times since then and each time I've lifted these little plants and moved them from one place to another. I rescued them from our back before the bulldozers moved in last November and they are currently thriving in a planter out the front. I like the way the late afternoon sun is striking the leaves and the flowers!

Have a good weekend fellow blippers! I hope the sun is shining on you too!
