Flint and steel
#3 daughter, Ella and Nathaniel came this morning. (Luke is at work.)
We had homemade Lentil, Leek and carrot soup then Mr C took the children to investigate the carriage drive to see if any of the trees, fallen during Arwen, had been cleared. Sadly not so they did a lot of scrambling over and under or slithering up a steep bank. But it kept them out of doors.
On their return the children and I played Horrible History Top Trumps then Knock out Whist. Ella showed us some tricks from her new Magic Set and Nathaniel wanted to show us how he could make fire with his flint and steel he got from Santa. So Mr C said he could light the fire. He was so excited. I think he takes after his mum who used to play with fire. Say no more.
The children (well Ella and her mum) are Strictly fans so after they had their tea we watched the Christmas one on catch-up. Daughter and I are about to have a White Lady.
They are going to Scotland tomorrow to see Mr C’s brother-in-law, nieces and their children, as are #2 and family. We have, reluctantly, decided not to go. There will be 6 households (the First Minister’s guidelines are only 3) plus 3 teenagers so Mr C prefers us to prioritise our planned New Year in Yorkshire with Sheila and Mike.
