St Andrew’s Square
Another trip to Edinburgh, a chance to see the new Nicola Benedetti portrait, and Scottish Ballet’s Nutcracker. A charming and sumptuous production , an adorable very young Clara, and with a nod in the right direction Drosselmyer was performed by a woman. Not sure where the river of rose water disappeared to. On balance I think I still prefer Wayne Eagling’s darker interpretation.
One the few adults not wearing a mask was, of course, sitting next to me. I spent the first half leaning at 45 degrees in the opposite direction. I was able to move at the interval, quite a few empty seats dotted about.
The best possible way of spending the Winter Solstice, and I saw 4 roe deer at the gate into Pollok Park.
