Solstice smoke trails

The weather has shifted as the high pressure gives way to Atlantic air coming down through the Porta Rodano - the Rhone doorway. Rain and mild air now forecast for Christmas.

I shifted a big pile of oak from a tree I felled last winter. Some is ready for the fire and the rest needs splitting.

Later I popped down to the village to get another bottle of gas, pellets, petrol for the machines and a few last things.

Apparently the lowest declination of the sun, or the northern hemisphere’s declination vis a vis the sun occurred just before 5pm.

By then it was damp with a fine drizzle.
